It reached -4 degrees on Wednesday, making it the coldest July morning in three years. The Bureau of Meteorology registered the temperature at Dubbo airport at 4:01am.
It's the coldest it's been since July 2018, but it's not a record. That title also goes to 2018, on July 15 when the mercury dipped to a freezing -6.
Tuesday morning was also predicted to be frosty, just not quite as cold. This week's spate of chilly mornings has been attributed to a high pressure system and those beautiful clear, night time skies.
"The clear skies at night mean the blanket of cloud cover isn't there to keep any heat in," BoM Meteorologist Helen Reid said.
