Brown owned each of Scone trainer Darren Egan's three winners, including Nowyouknowmi in the day's feature event.

For several years Brown had considerable success when his team was trained at Nyngan by Rodney Robb and he often accompanied the well-known trainer on trips to race at remote tracks in Queensland, Northern Territory and West Australia.

After a long and successful career Robb scaled back his operation to become more of a hobby trainer and the majority of the Brown gallopers are now with the Egan stable at Scone.

The highlight of Sunday's meeting at Dubbo was when the 14 qualifiers lined up for the $30,000 Winter Country Classic Final, a benchmark 58 handicap over 1300m.

Ridden by the talented apprentice Reece Jones, Nowyouknowmi ($4.60 favourite) was in a well-positioned fifth at the home turn and after reaching the lead won by more than a length from Wishfilly (Casey Waddell, $6.50) and Zoutenant ( Clayton Gallagher,$7 ).

The minor place-fillers were trained by Dubbo brothers Michael and Dar Lunn respectively.

Either side of the win by Nowyouknowmi, Fifteen Rounds (Michael Heagney, $4.80) and Lancer (Waddell, $13) were the winners for Egan and Brown.

Nyngan couple Ken and Kerry Wright were understandably very happy when their three year gelding Rylan's Pick made a winning debut in the Kings Hall Jewellers Maiden Plate (1100m).

Trained by Clint Lundholm and ridden by Jake Pracey-Holmes, Rylan's Pick ($19) jumped from an outside barrier and tracked the leaders before finishing best to account for Super Chance (Tony Cavallo, $3.70) and Steel Factor (Clayton Gallagher, $3.20 favourite).

Second leg of a double for Pracey-Holmes was aboard Cthonia for Mudgee trainer Mark Milton in the Dubbo Rhino Lodge Benchmark 58 Handicap (2200m).

Winner of the recent Bligh Picnic Cup (1850m) in dominant fashion by more than 13 lengths, Cthonia as a $4 chance at Dubbo and ran home strongly to beat Promesa (Gallagher, $5.50) and Careering Away (Yvette Lewis, $3.30 fav.).

Owned by Terry Fulwood and trained at Narromine by Kylie Kennedy, Happy Az ($7) took the lead from Hitman at the top of the straight and responded to hard riding from Gallagher to win the Maiden Handicap (1400m) from the Kody Nestor-trained Tintern Power (Cavallo, $4.40) and Swiss Scent (Grant Buckley, $3.70 fav.).

Cavallo and Nestor still combined for a win on the day as the jockey produced a patient ride on Toulon Brook ($4.40) to win the North Dubbo RSL Sportiest Benchmark 66 Handicap (1660m).

Toulon Brook got back to winning ways by overhauling stablemate Five Star Gal (Liam Blanch, $9) to score by a length with Slatey Bay (Nick Hyde, $3.70) in third.
