The track was rated a heavy 10 at lunchtime on Thursday after more than 40mls had fallen in the previous 24 hours.

Dubbo Turf Club general manager Vince Gordon admitted it was a waiting game to see if Friday's meeting, one of the premier winter events on the calendar, would go ahead.

"It will all depend on a track inspection and gallop in the morning," Gordon said.

"It's to-be-advised at this stage. There will be the gallop at 6.30am to determined the track's suitability for racing."

While all rulings from Racing NSW stewards will be adhered to, Gordon and the club is keen to see the meeting go ahead.

The Silver Goblet feature is the biggest race for two-year-olds at the Dubbo track each year and is a prestigious event while two heats of the Winter Country Classic Series are also scheduled to be run.

As of Thursday, it was too soon to say if the meeting would be rescheduled if Friday's original date was to be abandoned.

"That's depending on what other races are around and track availability. It depends on the weather so there's no a straight answer yet," Gordon added.

If the meeting is to go ahead, Scone-based trainer Cameron Crockett is set to arrive at the track with the favourite for the $30,000 Kings Hall Jewellers Silver Goblet Two-Year-Old Handicap (1100m).

Limited Reality won his debut by two-and-a-half lengths in fast time at Gunnedah recouping a large portion of his purchase price of $20,000.

The unknown heading into Friday is the heavy track but Crockett couldn't be happier with the gelding's form and his decision to buy the then yearling almost twelve months ago at the Gold Coast sales.

"I didn't see him before the sale or after and bought him when he was in the sale ring because I liked him," Crockett said.

"I couldn't get any owners for him so I kept 75 per cent myself and he has already won on race.

"It has turned out in my favour that I kept the horse for myself and I think he is only going to be better as a three-year-old."

Crockett said Limited Reality had "lightning speed" but some of the others heading into the Goblet also appear to be in the same boat.

Monster Bisque finished second at his second trial at Rosehill and will represent Sydney trainer Gary Moore while Watch Me Rumble was an impressive trial winner last month for Dubbo trainer Clint Lundholm.

"There is a lot of speed in the race and my horse is very fast and will come back to the rider if needed," Crockett said.

"He is very professional for a young horse and having had that one start with a bit of experience will be a positive.

"He does have a bit of extra weight on a heavy track, but I think he will get through the wet.

"Even if he didn't handle it - the track wouldn't deter him from still trying."

Limited Reality will be ridden by leading jockey Aaron Bullock from barrier four.

Apprentice Elissa Meredith will pilot Watch Me Rumble for Lundholm in what was a small field of seven on Thursday.

Racing at Dubbo is scheduled to start at 12.19pm on Friday.
