That's the sentiment that could be felt around the school hall on Monday as students rallied ahead of the start of the 2021 Astley Cup.
While Bathurst host Orange for the first tie later this week, Dubbo College students are ready for the following two weeks, when it's their chance to shine.
With COVID-19 restrictions on school curricular activities and travel forcing the cancellation of the 2020 event - only the third time it's happened in the long history of the Astley Cup - the students are more than ready for a year of competition.
Along with eight sporting competitions over the two days, the Mulvey Cup debating competition also offers a more academic challenge for students interested.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
And while Dubbo hasn't won the debating since 2009 and the Astley Cup since 2011, a year to plan, prepare and train in all aspects has students and teachers alike thinking 2021 is Dubbo's year to shine.
It's been 10 long years since Dubbo's tasted Astley success.
It's time to see a break in the drought.
Dubbo College Senior Campus school captain Imogen Pettit said she felt the 'drought' in the competition could have ended last year, but, it's this year she is really confident about Dubbo chances.
"Considering there was a pretty big drought, we thought we were a good chance of winning it last year but ever since then COVID and everything de-railed the plan," she told the Daily Liberal at the asembly.
"I think we have a pretty good chance of winning it this year."
Whatever the outcome at the end of the day, we will be proud and impressed with the students who put so much work and training into the competition.
We will be cheering alongside them at each game, and through the debating.
When Dubbo take to the field we wish everyone the best of luck.
