Former Wellington local and Australian Wallabies great Tom Robertson will be leading the dinner as the special guest.
Mr Robertson, a Dubbo Kangaroos Junior and former Waratah who has previously played for the Australian Schoolboys and the NSW Country Eagles before being selected for national honours as a Wallaby, is living proof that no one is immune to ill mental health.
Mr Robertson himself has fallen victim to mental health struggles but is determined to make a change through speaking out about his experiences.
Dubbo charity, Tradies in Sight founder Bruno Efoti will also be speaking at the event about his experiences.
Mr Efoti founded Tradies in Sight after having seen first hand the large number of people suffering from ill mental health within regional trades industries.
The event is being coordinated by Orana Support Service migrant support program manager Rajiv Bhattarai in a bid to encourage men to be more open about their struggles and engage more in conversation around mental health- which is a topic many men struggle to speak about.
Guests are required to purchase tickets to attend, with all money raised going towards Orana Support Services Sturt House.
Sturt House is a men's refuge that provides voluntary short term crisis accommodation for men over the age of 18 years who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
The refuge is a communal, drug and alcohol-free living environment which supports a zero-tolerance policy and provides service users with access to case management as well as other services.
Guests are also guided in setting and achieving short term goals.
Mr Rajiv said the money would specifically be used to purchase new gym equipment.
The Men's Health Dinner will be held at Dubbo RSL Club in the auditorium room on Wednesday, June 16, from 6 pm.
Tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased online at www.123Tix.com.
