The patriarch of the great Bathurst-based racing family died last week on Sunday he will have a race at the Dubbo track named in his honour.
The Remembering AD Turnbull Pace (1720m) is one of seven races on the card and has attracted a handy field which includes members of the Turnbull family.
Steve Turnbull has recorded countless wins at Dubbo but the chance to take out a race named after his father provides him with a little more motivation.
Steve Turnbull has Ripponlea in the event and the lightly-race three-year-old filly will be driven by one of his own son's, Mitch, on Sunday.
Ripponlea has only the six career starts and has recorded one win, a victory which came at the Dubbo track last month.
She's coming off a disappointing last at her home track last time out and on Sunday she'll start in the back row, two gates inside another Turnbull hope.
Mitch's brother Nathan is the trainer-driver of Royal Hotshot, a mare looking to get back to her best form.
After three successive wins earlier this year the four-year-old mare has finished 10th and then seventh her past two starts.
Looking to spoil the Turnbull party is another Bathurst-based trainer-driver, Mat Rue.
Rue has Classical Music starting from the back row and the three-year-old filly is the hot favourite for the event after back-to-back placings at Bathurst and Dubbo her last two starts.
Dubbo trainer John Lew has Jogalong Blue and Burrabadine Dancer in the race.
Racing starts 1.08pm.
