Police are appealing for information after a man died following an alleged assault in Coonabarabran.

Emergency services were called to a home on Nandi Street in Coonabarabran following a reports a man had been found injured, about 7pm on May 12.
Officers from the Orana Mid-Western Police District were told a group of people had gathered at the home, when a 53-year-old man was found at the front of the house with serious injuries to his head and face.

The injured man was taken to Coonabarabran Hospital before being airlifted to St George Hospital where he later died.
Police established a crime scene and detectives from the Orana Mid-Western Police District and the State Crime Command Homicide Squad began an investigation.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone that may have been in the area or witnessed the incident to contact Coonabarabran Detectives or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
