The students have been exploring an 'Introduction to Science', learning about 20th and 21st Century scientists.
Dr Karl, a scientist who has embraced a strong social media presence, was brought up several times, so of course, when Delroy Campus science teacher Tatum Hodgson discovered he offers free video calls to schools across Australia, she jumped at the opportunity.
"Upon discovery, I thought - how wonderful - this is a great opportunity," Ms Hodson said.
Dr Karl spent an entire lesson with students discussing questions of their choice.
In lead up to the video call, Dr Karl also sent a box of his published, personally signed books which arrived at the campus before the call unbeknown to the staff and students.
"This generous donation has further inspired our students," Ms Hodgson said.
"The books will be added as a wonderful resource in the library for all students to benefit from.
"After the video call, the students were left with many new interesting facts, sparking a growing interest in some students, eager to learn more."
"The students felt quite honoured such an intelligent man took the time out of his busy schedule to speak to them."
"Dr Karl left the students with some wonderful advice, encouraging students to focus on facts, not opinions, and to always ask questions, be inquisitive."
"He encouraged them to apply themselves to education as they are the most intelligent generation that has ever existed and will solve many of the world's problems."
