Dubbo Regional councillor Kevin Parker hopes people around the city will get involved in the initiative.
"It would be great, to get behind this venture and just to really put a positive note on it and look forward to being able to source future games as well," he said
Cr Parker admitted there was an excitement building around town ahead of the match which is now under three weeks away from kick-off.
"It's something we have been looking forward to and striving for over a number of years now and finally we've got it and we've got a really good match," he said.
"We are looking forward to community involvement and no doubt we have a big crowd coming and actually tickets are sold out so it is a success from that point of view already.
"We got the right match."
