Owen won the Freemasons of NSW/ACT Community Service Award, a result of his Doing It For Rural Aussie Kids initiative, along with the public vote for the 2DayFm People's Choice Award at a ceremony on Friday.
Owen, who grew up in a town of 12 people in Albert before moving to Narromine as a teen, said he was thrilled so many people across Australia were supportive of him and his efforts.
"When you live in an isolated country town it's easy to think you're a bit forgotten about. However, the people in rural Australia are the backbone of this country," he said.
"We need to remember that and support kids and families whenever we can.
Owen was also a finalist for the TransGrid Indigenous Achievement Award and was the most nominated entrant in this year's competition.
