Representing herself, Brittany Poyser, 19, pleaded guilty to one count of common assault and one count of stalk or intimidate to intend fear or physical harm in Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday.

According to police, Poyser attended the McDonald's on Cobra Street when she approached the victim who was sitting in the passenger seat of a car, sometime on January 12 this year.

Police said Poyser began yelling at the victim through the side window, before she hit the victim on the left side of her face leaving red marks on her cheek.

Police said Poyser continued to yell "ya f----- slut" and "I'll f------ run over you ya slut" before yelling at a witness in the driver's seat and leaving.

The victim attended Dubbo Police Station where she reported the incident to officers, and handed them a video of the incident recorded by one of the bystanders.

The victim told police they didn't want to get out of the car as they didn't want to fight her, or escalate the incident.

In court on Wednesday Poyser handed up her version of events where she said it was with "deep regret" that she had been bought to the attention of the court for her display of "reckless behaviour".

Poyser explained she had become involved after her friends contacted her after feeling threatened and intimidated by the victim.

"It all started with [the victim] driving past them continuously stalking them wherever they went, they were yelling out to them and sticking their fingers up out the car windows at them," she wrote.

Poyser said her friends had gone to McDonald's when the victim and a large group of people gathered in the car park.

She said one of the group members said "which one of you is fighting the girls up here" telling them to come fight, before messaging Poyser to come down as they were "really scared".

Poyser said she attempted to stop the incident by messaging the victim to leave her friends alone and stop harassing them as they felt intimidated.

Poyser claimed the victim messaged her back saying "f--- off, keep out of this it has nothing to do with you" and said "you're a twig you'll do nothing c---".

"When I arrived I noticed the victim and their large group were still in the car park area. I walked up to [the victim] who was in the passenger seat and made a last effort to persuade her to leave [my friends] alone," Poyser wrote to the court.

"[The victim] then laughed in my face and told me that it had nothing to do with me and to f--- off.

"The response provoked me to react and I slapped [the victim] on her cheek with an open hand slap with my right hand.

"Immediately afterward I got back in my car and drove toward the front of McDonald's where I made sure [my friends] got to their car safely."

Magistrate Hamilton accepted there had been prior interaction where the victim "taunted" Poyser.

"It seems to me this behaviour occurred fairly quickly and involved one hit, which was fairly low level," she said.

Poyser was sentenced to a conditional release order and ordered to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
