Alex Anthony McArthur, 24, had been drinking at the Macquarie Inn, before he left to go to his girlfriend's house at about 8.40pm on November 3 last year.
McArthur was driving his white Toyota Hilux south along Howard Avenue before he crashed into a blue Holden commodore parked out the front of a house.

According to police, the force of the impact had caused the blue commodore to collide with another Subaru Liberty parked in front of it.
McArthur continued driving before coming to a stop 40 metres down the road.
Police arrived and conducted a roadside breath test which was positive. McArthur told police he had consumed about five drinks since 6pm.
He was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station where he returned a positive alcohol reading of 0.144.
Police documents said McArthur was remorseful for his actions, however did not "seem to appreciate the seriousness of the offence".
In Dubbo Local Court, McArthur pleaded guilty to mid-range drink-driving.
The court heard McArthur had previously been convicted of low-range drink-driving and special range drink-driving.
However defence lawyer Anne Hazelton said McArthur had completed the merit program and recognised and accepted he had a problem with alcohol.
Magistrate Theresa Hamilton accepted McArthur recognised he had a problem with alcohol, however was concerned with the circumstances of the incident.
"He was very high into the mid-range, approaching high-range," she said.
McArthur was convicted and sentenced to a 15-month community corrections order. He was disqualified from driving for seven months and ordered to install an interlock device for 24 months.
