Keniry had sat on the bench out the front of the hotel with three friends before he got up and approached the front door of the hotel.
According to police he pulled back his right arm and with a closed fist punched the front door causing it to completely shatter.
Police said Keniry "casually walked away" toward Brisbane Street, before being stopped by the hotel's security.
Court documents revealed a security guard "bear hugged" Keniry which took them both to the ground in order to restrain him.
Security called police, while a second security guard aided the first security guard in restraining Keniry until officers arrived.
Police said on arrival they saw Keniry laying on his back being restrained by the guards, shouting at them.
Keniry was arrested and placed in handcuffs and questioned about the incident.
Police were approached by friends of Keniry who offered to take him home.
In Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday, Keniry pleaded guilty to done count of destroy or damage property and one count of being an excluded person remaining in the vicinity of a licenced premises.
Defence lawyer Lucy Maher said Keniry had no criminal history, and came before the court "remorseful for his actions".
Ms Maher said Keniry had since secured work at a bar and now understands the affect of his behaviour.
"He doesn't have a memory of the evening, but accepts his actions," she told the court.
Magistrate Gary Wilson sentenced Keniry to a conditional release order, without conviction, and ordered him to be of good behaviour for six months.
Keniry was also ordered to provide an apology to the management of the Castlereagh Hotel and offer to compensate for damage.
