Dubbo Regional Council CEO Michael McMahon has responded after receiving a letter from six councillors calling for an extraordinary meeting to address their concerns.
"In taking into consideration the mayor's medical leave, and appropriateness of ensuring the mayor is present for such a meeting, council has two weeks to arrange an extraordinary meeting, and will have discussions with the six councillors to determine an appropriate date for that meeting," he said.

On Wednesday a Dubbo Regional Council spokesperson said mayor Ben Shields would be taking indefinite medical leave.
Deputy Mayor councillor Stephen Lawrence, has assumed the role of acting mayor during the time of medical leave.
The announcement followed a public call by six councillors for Cr Shields to resign.
In Wednesday's brief update, the council had asked the public to respect Cr Shields and his family during this time.
Mr McMahon announced in January that he will retire with April 1 to be his last day. Dubbo Regional Council has appointed director Dean Frost to act as interim chief executive officer from April 2.
