Bert Gordon, 18, was drinking in the beer garden at the Castlereagh Hotel on November 14 last year, when the violent punching spree began.
About 11.49pm, Gordon was escorted out of the premises by a staff member for his intoxicated state and failing to sit down and adhere to COVID-19 restrictions.
As the pair walked toward the front door, Gordon turned to the victim calling him a "gronk" before headbutting him.

A number of people ran toward the pair and stepped between them, telling Gordon to "stop and just leave," court documents revealed.
However Gordon reached around and grabbed the victim with his right hand and with a closed fist punched him in the ear, causing it to split and bleed.
Other patrons managed to pull Gordon away and push him toward the door, however as he walked through the bar area, with a sweeping motion knocked all the promotional items off the bench.
Once outside on Talbragar Street, Gordon randomly turned and punched another victim, before walking toward the corner window, punching it with his right hand and smashing it.
Police patrolled the area on the hunt for Gordon and spotted him near the skate park on the corner of Talbragar and Gipps Streets.
As police approached him, Gordon began to run away into Victoria Park. After a short foot pursuit Gordon came to a stop, when police noticed his right hand was bleeding.
NSW Ambulance paramedics were called and treated his hand, before Gordon told them he had punched a window at the pub.
Gordon was convicted in his absence in Dubbo Local Court earlier this month by Magistrate Van Zuylen. However he reappeared on Wednesday pleading guilty to one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one count of common assault and one count of destroy or damage property.
Defence lawyer Carmen McKay told the court Gordon had "little recollection of the incident" and told her "he's never stuffed up on the grog before".
Two references from staff at Dubbo LeaderLife were tendered in court which said they had worked with Gordon since a young age and described the incident as "out-of-character".
"There's support in place and he's hopefully unlikely to come before the court again," Ms McKay told the court.
Magistrate Theresa Hamilton said she didn't think the incident was at the lower end of offending.
"He's a young man, the fact he's drunk is no excuse," she said.
Magistrate Hamilton convicted Gordon and sentenced him to a 15-month community corrections order.
He was also ordered to pay $4306 in compensation to the Castlereagh Hotel for damages to the window.
