Headspace Dubbo community youth engagement coordinator Amy Mines, father and son Todd and Blake Marr, deputy mayor Stephen Lawrence, Trent Chippindale and daughter-dad duo Molly and Mark Groarke collectively raised $1850 through bids alone.
With more than $5,000 donated to their GoFundMe Page and in person, the initiative has raised more than $7000 all together which will be used to train and support local Youth Ambassadors.
Amy said it is crucial our youth receive the tools and support needed to support themselves.
"Mol and I started organising the event three or four months ago to make a statement to empower young people to support themselves and one another," she said.
Amy was second to have her head shaved following Stephen, who faced the clippers first, and she also managed to rake up the highest bid of $750 made by Dubbo Landscape Centre owner Behn Monley.
Other bidders included TooTapered Barber Shop barber Daniel Schaefer who had the winning bids on both Stephen and Trent and had the privilege of doing the first shave of the day. Amy's son Jack Welbourne made the top bid for Molly and Mark and Church St Barber Shop placed the top bid for Todd and Blake.
Brentley Goodwin from Raine and Horne Dubbo volunteered his time to MC the event, as well as expertly conduct the auction.
"Young Australians are more prone to suicide than skin cancer, can you believe it?" he said.
"And one in five young people experience mental ill-health in any one year.
"That's pretty bloody scary."
A special thanks also went out to the Royal Flying Doctors Service who put on a free barbecue for everyone at the event, as well as hairdressers from various barber shops and salons in Dubbo who voluntarily done the cutting and shaving.
Amy said the GoFundMe Page for the event will remain live for a couple of days following the event for any last minute donations.
