Organised by Songwriters and Original Musicians Association Dubbo, Under Western Skies will run from Thursday to Sunday with different acts across the city.
In addition to the ticketed events, the community will be able to hear local young talent perform for free at the rotunda in the CBD.
SOMAD president Fred Randell said the musicians would start from about 9am.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"We want to make sure that as SOMAD we're supporting the new musicians that are coming through and it seemed like a good opportunity if people are coming into town for Under Western Skies, why not showcase some of that young talent?," he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Randell said ticket sales for the other events were going well. He's encouraged those considering attending to get their tickets now to avoid disappointment.
"What happened in 2019 at Dundullimal is everybody waited until the last minute and then showed up on the day and we were sold out and we had to turn people away from the gates, which some people weren't very happy about," he said.
Under Western Skies starts on Thursday night with a free event at Devil's Hollow Brewery featuring Lueth Ajak and Brandon Troutman.
On Friday night at the Commercial Hotel will be Andy Nelson, Blue Sherlock, Novel Future and Irene Halloran. Or Red Bee, Catnip Kaiser, Extractor and Killing Time can be seen at the Amaroo Hotel.
An all ages show will be held on Saturday with Catnip Kaiser, Sondernaut and Decimal Point. On Saturday night there'll also be an event at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre featuring Thirsty Merc, Little Quirks and Clinton Hoy.
Little Quirks, The Safety of Life at Sea and Civil Hands will finish the festival on Sunday at the Western Plains Cultural Centre courtyard.
"It's a lot of effort to make this happen. It's been pretty much three months of full time work and even before that, the committee is always making plans and so forth," Mr Randell said.
"First and foremost we're looking forward to the shows and hearing the music but come Sunday when all the festivities are over it'll be great to wind down. It's been a long hard push from the committee."
Mr Randell thanked all the sponsors and supported who had helped make Under Western Skies possible.
Tickets are available via the Under Western Skies website.
