The work at Guyong will involve the use of a drilling rig to drill small boreholes where the low-impact explosives will be placed. This will be followed by controlled blasting to remove basalt and allow for shoulder widening on the highway.

This will be carried out with one blast just after 7pm on Tuesday, March 2 and is expected to take one shift to complete, weather permitting.

Traffic control, reduced speed limits and intermittent stopping will be in place during blasting for the safety of motorists and workers.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control and allow an additional 15 minutes travel time to their journey.
