Now imagine that times twenty.

On Wednesday, the RFDS Dubbo base celebrated two decades since it first started operations and according to senior flight nurse Karen Barlow there is a lot to be celebrating from the service's 20 years of growth and success.

Mrs Barlow has been a part of the RFDS Dubbo Base journey since the very beginning.

"We started out with three nurses, three flight pilots, three rented rooms, one aircraft and one administration assistant and we were covering one day shift and one night shift and now we're covering four shifts a day, we have four plains up in the air, 13 flight nurses, 22 doctors and 18 pilots," she said.

"So, we're we started out to where we are now, it's just been amazing."

Mrs Barlow says she has too many favourite stories from her time growing with the RFDS Dubbo Base, however, a highlight which always stands out to her more than anything else was the visit from the royal family.

Royal Flying Doctor Service south eastern section chief medical officer Dr Randall Greenberg says the growth and changes made within the service is 'terrific'.

"I've been part of the service for 11 years now, I clearly haven't seen as much as Karen has, but I have seen how its grown in that time and what we've done is really great," he said.
