The peak body for motorists also anticipates a planned expansion of the network along the Mitchell Highway will make EVs an increasingly popular choice.
Since the launch of its charger in the car park of Western Plains Cultural Centre more than 18 months ago, it has experienced "regular use", the NRMA reports.
"We typically see a significant increase in usage across holiday periods as EV drivers stop and charge in Dubbo," a spokeswoman said.
"Just recently across December we saw about 140 charging sessions.
"Dubbo connects EV travellers with NRMA chargers in Mudgee, Orange and Parkes.
"Soon the NRMA will be extending the charging network west along the Mitchell Highway supporting travel for EV drivers from Dubbo as they head out to Nyngan and Bourke."
The NRMA network already has 48 chargers, but the motoring body sees the need for more.
It and the NSW government formed a partnership in July to roll out an extra 20 charging stations in the next two years.
More stations will transform the way EV drivers move around, helping to support regional tourism, the NRMA says.
"We want people to stop off and explore regional towns as they recover from a tough few years of drought, bushfires and COVID-19," the spokeswoman said.
"By 2022, most EV drivers will be no more than 150 kilometres from an EV charging station, allowing people to travel to Broken Hill, Moree and Bourke, and to link up with major routes in Queensland, Victoria and South Australia.
"We believe that with a comprehensive regional fast charging network we will see this EVs become an increasingly popular choice."
