Dubbo long reigned as the most dominant side in the zone but that title has well and truly passed now after Bathurst defeated Mat Skinner's men on Sunday to make it three grand final wins in the past five seasons.
Skinner has overseen something of a rebuild in recent years after greats of Dubbo cricket like Jordan Moran, Tim Cox, Ben Patterson, Jason Ryan, Tim Berry and many others exited the representative scene.
Younger players have been given their chance in the past few seasons and that could continue next summer.

CYMS young gun and Australian junior representative Tom Coady is likely to make the move to Sydney next season and will leave a huge hole as keeper-batsman and Skinner expects him to just be one of a number of departures.
"We've had a core group but there's probably going to be a few changes next season," he said after Sunday's loss.
"Tom Coady will probably move away and maybe head to Sydney and there's a couple of others who probably won't be there.
"Ben Semmler mentioned this might be his last year, too.
"So there's going to be room for guys like Ant Atlee and Lawson Shepherd to come up through the ranks and the same goes for others as well."
Atlee made his WZPL debut this season after cementing his place in the RSL-Colts first grade side while both he and Shepherd have gained senior representative experience in the Brewery Shield.
Both teenagers have captained the Dubbo Brewery Shield side this season at different times.
Skinner praised the effort of Jakke Gardiner after the final as the Rugby spinner, who's been something of a fringe player this season, took three wickets and he could be someone whop gets more chances moving forward as well.
Roland O'Connor, who served as Coady's understudy this season, could also develop into a regular moving forward.
Atlee and Gardiner both played in the 45-run decider loss to Dubbo after a number of regulars were unavailable.
Mitch Bower missed the game for family reasons while personal commitments also kept his Western Zone teammate Marty Jeffrey and Thomas Nelson out of the squad.
All three batsmen would have been handy on Sunday as only Ben Wheeler and the captain managed to pass 20 during Dubbo's unsuccessful chase of Bathurst's 199.
"It's a bit frustrating when a few blokes who are supposed to be key players can't commit all the time," Skinner admitted after Sunday's defeat.
