It's nothing new for Garry Lunn to go into a race feeling quietly confident about an outside chance of his and he was again proved right at Bathurst's Tyers Park on Monday.

The Dubbo trainer was in a positive mood prior to the Erin's Quality Outdoor Power Centre Class 1 Handicap (1408m) and it was justified as $9.50 chance Urus led from start to finish in a gutsy win.
The $2.05 favourite Liberty Fields came from deep in the straight but had to settle for second as Urus fought on gamely and won by a quarter-of-a-length.
"This horse has done nothing wrong," Lunn said of Urus when speaking to Sky Thoroughbred Central.
"The other day I took him to the picnics but he missed the kick and I couldn't believe it.
"He had 69kg for a 1700m so I freshened him and I'm pleased he won because that was my little grandson's first horse he led in.
"He's got his ticket now so he'll be happy, Barry."

A spell is now likely for the three-year-old Urus after a strong first preparation with Lunn.
Formerly trained by Bryan and Daniel Guy, Urus has had 11 runs for Lunn and has scored two wins and seven placings in that time.
Monday's win was impressive as Billy Cray was forced to dig deep in the saddle.
Urus got to the lead, as expected, early on after jumping from gate three and built a handy early lead while Cotton On George ($4.20) led the chase.
The margin at the front was eaten into as the field entered the bend for home and while Liberty Fields and Haalan ($6.50), trained at Wellington by Michael Mulholland, threatened to loom it was all about Urus.
Real desire was shown over the final few hundred metres as Urus hung on while Harley Fat Boy ($12) ran home to be third behind Liberty Fields.
