TWO men wanted for stealing rifles from a farm, sparking a major manhunt by police across the region remain behind bars.

Stephen Zachary Quartley, 32, and Timothy Roy Evans, 36, face a string of stealing, aggravated break-in and car charges after they were captured by officers.
Quartley appeared in Tamworth Local Court on Tuesday, but is yet to enter any pleas.
The pair - who have connections to Dubbo - were wanted by police after investigations into a break-in at Baan Baa in December where two guns were stolen.

Between 2.30pm on December 23 and the afternoon of December 26, the property on Old Narrabri Road was broken into where a safe and two rifles were stolen.
Police were alerted and soon homed in on two suspects.
Investigators released photos of the pair in late-December, after warrants were issued for their arrest, along with a photo of a white Toyota Yaris they were believed to be in.
At the time, officers claimed the pair were "considered dangerous" and warned the public not to approach them.
A statewide alert was also issued at the time, with police warning they had connections to the Tamworth, Narrabri, Dubbo, Orange, Parkes and Forbes areas.
On Tuesday, Oxley Detective Acting Inspector Jason Darcy said one of the suspects was arrested in Parkes, while another was captured in a foot chase with police after he allegedly tried to hide from officers "under a bed" in Wellington.
Quartley faces seven charges including three counts of larceny; two counts of aggravated break-and-enter of a dwelling in company stealing goods worth less than $60,000; stealing a motor vehicle; and being carried in a stolen car.
On Tuesday, he made no application for bail and it was formally refused by magistrate Julie Soars.
The case has now been moved to Gunnedah where it was adjourned until next month.
Evans, 36, is due back in court but has already pleaded not guilty to eight offences including larceny; aggravated break-and-enter; driving a stolen car; police pursuit and stealing a car.
His application for bail was denied by magistrate Mal Macpherson in Dubbo Local Court.
