Installation of a new play space within Delroy Parklands/Grangewood Estate area was identified as part of mayor Ben Shields' playground shade improvement program.
The goal is to cater for population growth in the area and help balance the current inequity between west and east Dubbo recreational opportunities.
The proposed play space will create a key connection to Delroy Parklands and the existing pedestrian accessible path system.
Council has chosen a design for the proposed playground that will be nature based. There'll be park furniture, natural shade from trees and shade cloths, as well as a range of play elements like swings and slides.
The playground will also have soft fall materials along irrigated turf areas.

Council's liveability director Skye Price said access to the site would be a key focus of the project.
"While council will identify some safe areas families can park motor vehicles, we are encouraging the nearby residents to access this considered equipment via the existing pedestrian path infrastructure that connects the neighbourhood, to promote health and wellbeing," Ms Price said.
Cr Shields said the proposed site of the playground was the perfect area to provide additional recreational opportunities for the west Dubbo community.
"Dubbo has a great variety of recreational opportunities for families, particularly in the east of Dubbo," he said.
"The proposed playground location is on the eastern side of Joira Oval, nestled in a growth area which presents council and the community with an opportunity to provide children an area to play, gather and in turn practice social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills."
The draft plan is now on display online via council's website.
The playground has been designed to cater for all ages and abilities creating an all-inclusive recreational opportunity. The proposed play space will also include the planting of additional trees.
Council is particularly interested in the community feedback with regards to the proposed play space design and its location within Joira Oval.
Submissions on the proposed playground are open until midnight on March 7.
