HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) is a cost free, home-based early learning program, now in it's 11th year of operation in Dubbo, and is used to teach children skills and help them gain confidence.
Administrated by Centacare, the service offers two years of care across pre-school and the first year of primary school.

The service was put through the ringer during 2020 due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, with many of the activities and services offered across Australia having to be altered or temporarily shut down, but is now beginning in earnest again.
Dubbo based co-ordinator Claire Williams has already calling for parents and carers to consider participating in the program as part of HIPPY's casual workforce that's designed to 'empower parents and children alike'.
"HIPPY is a free transformative two-year, home-based early childhood learning program empowering carers as their child's first teacher," Ms Williams said.
"Many parents, carers and grandparents have worked as HIPPY Tutors and have gained further employment following their two-year term with the HIPPY program."
Once a child or parent are signed up for the program, they receive two year's worth of activity packs and weekly visits and training in order to get the most out of them, regular group meetings and training sessions with other parents who have gone through the HIPPY program also offer some firsthand learning opportunities for interested parents.
Through the program, children can receive vital early learning preparation for making the transition to school, and parents can also make the leap with full preparedness.
