Sitting in the competition's third spot behind Dubbo and Bathurst, Cowra captain, Mick Curtale, said his side was raring to go.
"With this game we know that a win and a good win keeps us alive in the competition until the final game against Dubbo," he said.
"So this is probably the biggest game that Cowra cricket has been involved in for a while and all the boys are up and ready for the challenge.
"They're (Mid West) going to be a good outfit and it's a bit of a road trip, so we have to do everything right and make sure we put ourselves in a position to win first and foremost.
"Then we're going to need a massive effort against Dubbo, but we'll worry about them if we get the result against Mid West this Sunday."
With some of the side's younger players enjoying selection in the Western Zone U18s Colts side earlier this month, Curtale said he was excited to see their performances this weekend.
"We had four in that (Western Zone) side which was excellent," he said.
"It shows the young blokes have the talent and shows that our development of them in the last couple of years has really helped.
"They've had a bit more cricket under their belts than us older blokes but I'm pretty sure the 12 of us will be ready to go come Sunday.
"I kept an eye on the scores all the boys contributed, Mikey scored a good 50 and Mac Webster took a few wickets.
"The other boys even if they didn't perform at their best, it's hard to tell from the stat sheet, I'm sure they would have taken a fair bit from the three-day carnival.
"Having a lot of young guys in the team makes us older boys get a bit more excited, especially a game like this knowing our season's on the line getting a win, although with a difficult last round, gives us a chance."
He said the side was packed with players who had a winning factor, but they needed to get the basics right to win.
"We pick guys for Sunday cricket that are going to win us a game whether we bat, bowl or field," he said.
"One thing they could do could win us a game, that's what we pick blokes on and I know we have match-winners in our team.
"But we're just making sure we do everything right, making sure we bat out overs if we bat first, put a decent total on the board and then bowl the way we know we can bowl, then make sure we field well.
"I know it sounds a bit boring but we just need to do the three disciplines right and we'll win most games.
"But we can't be off at any stage of the day or it will come back to bite us like it did against Bathurst."
Curtale said, with the nature of cricket, anything could happen this weekend.
"One run out, a catch in the field or one good over of 15 or 20 can turn a game on its head," he said.
"So we never worry about it too much, we just turn up and do our best and if we do everything right we'll be in the game.
"If we are playing our best cricket, nine out of 10 times it doesn't matter who we play, we feel like we can compete."
