Castlereagh have fielded teams in the Western Women's Rugby League competition since it was founded and had sides play in the opens, under 18s, 16s, and 14s divisions last year.
At the moment the teams play under the Castlereagh League banner and are financially supported by the league, but as the popularity of women's rugby league continues to grow at a rapid rate it is felt that now is the time for the women's rugby league players and supporters to control their own destiny and finances.
Castlereagh League secretary, Bryson Luff, stated while the league is still fully supportive of the women's game and is proud of what the teams representing Castlereagh have achieved in recent years, he believes that it is time for the Castlereagh Women's Rugby League (WRL) to "run their own show".

"Hopefully there will be sufficient interest shown this Sunday to form a stand-alone club," he said.
"I feel that this would be in the best interests of women's rugby league in our area as the game expands. The girls have been attracting great spectator support over the years and it is now time for that support to be converted into practical involvement in the running of a club that can continue to grow WRL in this area.
"The chances are that any new club formed may not even be known as Castlereagh, but that doesn't really matter as long as the women's rugby league out here continues to prosper under enthusiastic and committed leadership, that is the bottom line!"."
The meeting is at 10am, Sunday, at Gilgandra Sporting Club.
