"Jobs in the construction industry are expected to continue to increase and it is the perfect time for community members to take advantage of low cost and fee-free courses available through the NSW Government," Mr Penman said.
Aisling Constructions owner Jack Bush is one of the first business owners to jump on the bandwagon, saying the NSW Government subsidies played a pivotal part in his decision to take on an apprentice.
"The recent government subsidies for businesses looking to employ an apprentice gave me the confidence to expand my business," Mr Bush said.
Mr Bush started his business after completing a Certificate III in Carpentry and a Certificate IV in Building and Construction at TAFE.
Through the government subsidy Mr Bush has been enabled to lend a similar hand up to his apprentice tradesmen Sam Pay.
Mr Bush said he 'feels very strongly' about putting his apprentice through TAFE.
"I feel very strongly about sending my apprentice to TAFE for his training, knowing from experience, he will learn a broad range of practical skills that will benefit the business and set him up for the rest of his career," he said.
"Since the age of three, I had the dream of becoming a builder. TAFE NSW helped me pursue that dream.
"Studying had enabled me to learn hands-on skills from industry experts and get exposure to different aspects of the trade that you don't always get onsite."
