Over 60 GrainCorp sites in NSW and Victoria have recorded their highest ever total of receivals of wheat, barley, canola and other grains.

NSW was the standout state, with growers delivering over eight million tonnes.

Coonamble was the biggest provider with 443,000 tonnes surpassing its previous record of 384,000 tonnes from 2017.

GrainCorp General Manager of Operations Nigel Lotz said this harvest was a very welcome turnaround for many communities.

"After several years of drought, it's fantastic that growers have had a successful season of production, especially across NSW and Victoria," Mr Lotz said.

"We've seen and felt the effects of the drought on many rural communities, some of which are still ongoing, so the change in conditions last year brought such a positive end to 2020 for many of them,"

NSW sites that lay dormant during the drought also recorded their all-time best season in 2020 including Armatree, Garah, Merah North, Nyrang Creek, Peak Hill, Quirindi, Tamarang and Wirrinya.

NSW is also home to other standout receival sites including Gilgandra, Parkes, Nevertire, Barellan, Ardlethan and Calleen who all surpassed 200,000 tonnes.

Gilgandra, Parkes, Nevertire and Barellan along with Coonamble broke their own highest receival records during the 2020/21 harvest.

Narromine received just 92 tonnes of grain in the 2019/20 harvest and increased to 124,000 tonnes this harvest, the most they have ever had.

Due to the large amount of grain receivals, GrainCorp have had to arrange additional storage.

"To cater for the large volumes of grain receivals, we arranged additional bunker storage at some of these sites, including Coonamble, Gilgandra and Narromine. We also opened Armatree as a flex site, once it became clear just how high the yields were going to be in the region," Acting Dubbo North Area Manager and Narromine Site Manager Stacey Irvine said.

"The region was also very fortunate with minimal weather delays throughout harvest. As a result, growers were overwhelmingly positive for many, it was a huge turnaround after several years of drought,"
