The Tech Savvy Seniors course will be hosted by VERTO in Dubbo throughout February, March and April and is of no cost for those over the age of 60- 50 for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
VERTO CEO Ron Maxwell said it is easy for seniors in today's digital world to become overwhelmed by the constant flow of new technology.
"The Tech Savvy Seniors course provides training to help seniors to learn the basics that will allow them to complete everyday tasks like banking and booking medical appointments, while also learning how to stay in contact with their families, friends and communities," he said.
"Participating in this training with other like-minded seniors will ensure a comfortable training and learning environment, and most importantly, teach participants the skills they need to maintain their independence."
The Tech Savvy Seniors course will involve 12 sessions beginning with computer literacy followed by smartphones, tablets, social media, cyber safety, the internet, email and online banking.
Participants will able to bring their devices if they wish.
Tech Savvy Seniors is an NSW Government initiative in partnership with Telstra.
For more information or to enrol in the course, please contact VERTO on 1300 483 786 or training@verto.org.au.
