Prior to this he was the social justice vice-president where he helped co-found a regional volunteer program to work with community centres and schools in the Dubbo-Trangie and Wiradjuri community, and mentor disadvantaged Indigenous children.
Mr Vyas went on to direct the award winning documentary 'Yindyamarra', which followed the volunteer trip.
Since starting work professionally,Mr Vyas was responsible for the inclusion of the Dubbo-Trangie volunteer program under Baker McKenzie's pro bono and community service activities.
For his work on the Fairfield City Youth and Community Centre and Dubbo Volunteer program Mr Vyas was awarded the NSW Premier's Multicultural Youth Medal, which recognises the valuable role of a young person promoting intercultural dialogue and co-operation.
He was also the recipient of the Institute of Managers and Leaders 'Australian Student Leader of the Year' and twice nominated as the Australian Law Student of the Year.
Continuing his interest in the multicultural space, Mr Vyas was invited to form part of the AFL NSW/ACT Multicultural Alliance Committee to promote multiculturalism in AFL.
Wellington's Australia Day ambassador Taylor Corry will be in Cameron Park at Wellington from 10.30am to 11.30am.
Ms Corry, who has an intellectual disability, made her debut as a swimmer for Australia at the Global Games in Italy in 2011, where she was one of the stars of the meet, winning eight gold and one silver medal.
Her career highlights include winning two silver medals at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London for the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle.
Ms Corry initially made waves at the 2009 National Underage Championships, winning three gold and two silver medals to underline her enormous potential.
While she is extremely driven in her quest for success in the pool, Ms Corry enjoys her time hanging out with friends and tries to encourage them in their own pursuits.
Having grown up in Anna Bay, on the NSW Coast and as a water person, it is not surprising that she also loves to go to the beach.
Coach Tom Davis has been a long time mentor and influential figure throughout Ms Corry's quickly escalating career. She uses coach Davis' guidance and the achievements of contemporary Australian Swimmers Ian Thorpe, Geoff Huegill and Libby Trickett as motivation and inspiration.
Her main goal for the future is to be the best she can be.
A new COVID-safe format will be adopted for this year's traditional Australia Day award and citizenship ceremonies.
