The Golden Highway has reopened after an extensive vehicle salvage and clean-up operation, the Transport Management Centre said at 11pm on Tuesday.
The diversion for light vehicles via Muswellbrook and Scone has been lifted.
Emergency services are attending a truck and car crash that has closed the Golden Highway near Merriwa on Tuesday afternoon.
The highway is closed in both directions about 10 kilometres south of Merriwa, the Transport Management Centre has reported.

The highway links Dubbo with Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.
Alternate routes have been advised.
