The tour comes in time for the celebration of Williamson's 52nd anniversary in the entertainment and music industry and recognises his plans after tour to take a step back and 'wind down' from live performances.

Mr Williamson says he is looking forward to returning to Dubbo.

"It's been a while," he said.

"I spent quite a lot of time in Dubbo for some years building my following there, so I'm really excited to return. It's the heart of the bush in NSW."

The Winding Back Tour 2021/2022 may be Mr Williamson's last major string of performances as he does not plan on touring again after this.

"It doesn't mean I'm going to stop, I'll never stop, I'm just going to do less," he said.

Mr Williamson said although his performances will be more limited than they are now, they are far from over.

"I've had a 10 month break due to COVID-19 and I've enjoyed staying in the one spot for some time, but I'm also eager to get back out there," he said.

Mr Williamson says he has spent the majority of the last 50-plus years 'in and out of airports' travelling around Australia, and although he has loved every minute and enjoys visiting towns and cities across the country, he is looking forward to spending more time 'tendering to the garden'.

The tour will see Mr Williamson pay tribute to some of his all-time hit songs such as True Blue, Goodbye Blinky Bill, You and My Guitar and more.

"I never leave any song out, so all of the songs that are often requested I'll do, I might a few of more more recent songs too," he said.

The Winding Back tour was initially set for 2020 but was postponed due to COVID-19.

Mr Williamson will be performing at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre on February 11 from 8pm to 9.30pm.
