DUBBO firefighters along with other emergency services have had a busy 24 hours with crews attending a number of incidents. On Monday, December 28, crews were called to a fire in north-east Dubbo. Station Officer, Chris Cusack, said they arrived at the scene to find a grass fire. "At approximately 3.40pm, in conjunction with local RFS, we attended a grass fire on Buninyong Road," he said. "It appears the fire had been started by a ride on lawn mower, with the operator believing grass had got caught on the engine manifold causing the grass to ignite. "We were able to extinguish the fire quickly before it spread, however we just remind anyone undertaking mowing or slashing to ensure their equipment is maintained and to please keep grass short where possible, especially over summer during our fire season." READ ALSO: Dubbo crews were also on the scene of a car accident later in the evening. "We responded to a call out of a motor vehicle accident at approximately 8pm on the corner of Bultge and Darling St," he said. "The accident occurred between two vehicles, with four people involved. "All four people were assessed by Ambulance officers and released." Officer Cusack said storms that swept across the region also caused a variety of minor issues that were all dealt with swiftly.
