The current 2020 vouchers expire on Thursday, December 31 and with the kids off on school holidays, this is the last chance many families will get to use them.
Both programs were launched in 2018, with Active Kids focused on increasing the participation of school-enrolled children in sport and physical activity, while Creative Kids is aimed at making it easier for children to get involved in creative and cultural activities.

The programs provide vouchers to help cover the cost of registration and membership fees, and parents, carers and guardians of school-enrolled children can claim the following vouchers per child each year:
- Active Kids- two $100 vouchers
- Creative Kids- one $100 voucher
Vouchers can be used for a range of things from registration or membership fees to lessons or individual program costs, however any sport or activity provider must be approved by the Active Kids program in order for your voucher to be accepted.
A simple search tool is available online on the Service NSW website, where you can find providers that accept the vouchers.
The search tool allows you to enquire via the following methods:
- postcode or suburb
- sport or activity type
- provider name
While many sports and outdoor activities have been affected by COVID restrictions or may not run over the summer months, there are still many other providers where families can claim their existing vouchers, including:
For those looking to use their Creative Kids vouchers, there is a wealth of summer activities being run across the Central West and Western NSW.
There are 45 activity types to choose between, ranging from photography and art classes to writing workshops and robotics courses.
It is also possible to participate in programs online, meaning your children can participate in a range of activities across the state.
In 2019 over 250,000 Creative Kids vouchers were used by families, saving parents over $25 million in program fees and costs.
Over one million vouchers for Active Kids were also claimed last year, helping to not only get kids active but also save families money.
Acting Minister for Sport Geoff Lee said the impressive number of voucher downloads showed how keen parents were to get their kids involved in sport.
"Participation not only brings physical benefits but also builds confidence, resilience and leadership," he said.
"When we nurture our grassroots, we reap the benefits as a society."
