The state government department made the announcement on Monday morning in response to increasing COVID-19 case numbers.

"NSW Health strongly recommends people in NSW wear a mask at all times when in indoor areas," the department said in a statement.

Adding: "The areas where masks should be worn include: shopping centres, supermarkets and retail services, public transport, healthcare facilities [and] aged care facilities."

The advice was made due to the ease with which COVID-19 can spread indoors and in setting where people can't maintain social distancing.

However, NSW residents did not need to wear a mask in their own home, and were not expected to wear a mask if they had a relevant medical condition or the individual was a young child or toddler who was "unable to tolerate mask use".

There are currently more than 300 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW, many of which are open seven days a week.

Orange's drive-thru testing clinic is located inside the Naylor Pavilion at the Orange Showgrounds.

The Blayney drive-thru testing location is at 3 Osman St. Neither of these drive-thru clinics require a booking.

Other local testing locations include Orange Hospital, Bloomfield Medical Centre and Orange Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology, however bookings are mandatory.
