Despite the 'party-animal' label which often goes hand-in-hand with being a DJ, the scrutiny she has copped as a mother in the industry and the 'judgemental' response her notorious pink, flamboyant persona receives, self-taught Dubbo-based DJ, DJ Luscious is soaring towards success.

DJ Luscious was influenced to become a DJ three years ago, after having seen DJ Tigerlily live.
"I fell in love with the atmosphere and thought; that's what I want to do," she said.
"If you truly aspire to be something then it's never too hard. You just need confidence, motivation and a good support network.
"I started watching Youtube videos and taught myself the techniques and then I started performing at kids birthday parties with my daughter, Little Lush, who's in year one now."
Luscious said performing with her daughter is something she hopes to do long-term, but her ultimate goal is to become an international DJ.
"I knew I was on the right path after playing at the Amaroo Hotel for Christmas in July. I remember the crowd's response when I started my set. It was a moment of realisation that people liked what I was doing."
It was also the start of an endless string of bookings for DJ Luscious, but despite being on a one-way road to success, it hasn't come without challenges.
"You have to have thick skin, but it helps to have a good support network,' she said.
"It's hard. As a mother I have a lot of people judge me. I still doubt myself, but at the end of the day, my daughter loves knowing I have this career, she loves my music and the fact we've been able to bond over it is how I know I'm doing it right.
"Seeing how hard I work and how independent and strong I've had to be will also hopefully teach her to value my work ethic."
Luscious said the stigma DJs get being labelled as 'party animals' can also be hard to deal with.
"It gets to you more than you think, people have expectations, but just because you're a DJ doesn't mean you're a party animal. I remember performing at a private function and a group of males asked me how many drugs I had done, my response was 'I don't need drugs to have fun', and they were shocked by that."
Dj Luscious is notorious for her flamboyant pink aesthetic and has made quite the name for herself across the Central Western Region.
"I want that shock factor, I want to be unique and I don't want to be known as someone who only plays one genre. I feel as though if I stick to one genre then I'm limiting myself to one audience," she said.
