According to court documents, Trent Dallas Orcher, 42, along with another male were spotted walking down Alam Street with two new Yamaha motorbikes wearing helmets, gloves and pants at about 2.20am on April 12.
Police questioned the pair about what they were doing when Orcher told them, "we found the bikes down the road".

Orcher was searched by police who found gloves, and a Jerry can fuel spout inside his jacket.
According to facts, police recognised Orcher who was on conditional bail and searched his backpack locating a number of power tools including an angle grinder and a jimmy bar. Orcher admitted to owning the tools and told police they were to fix his bike.
Police later attended Yamaha Dubbo where they confirmed a break and enter after security alarms were activated at 2am that morning.
According to police facts, Orcher and the co-accused entered the rear of the building where they jimmied open the sliding door. Once inside, two Yamaha motorbikes along with two jackets, two helmets, gloves and socks were taken which were later found in possession of the two men.
It was discovered Orcher and the other male cut the lock of the front door and exited the building with the property valued at $16,887.75.
In court documents the pair claimed they had found the property and bikes on the side of the road and were taking it home to call police. However police said they both resided in South Dubbo and when they were found with the property they were in West Dubbo, walking north.
Orcher pleaded guilty to aggravated break and enter at Dubbo Local Court.
In court, Orcher told Magistrate Gary Wilson that his crimes "were in the past" and he "was going good".
However Magistrate Wilson detailed Orcher's lengthy criminal history and also revealed Orcher was currently serving two community corrections orders and was on bail conditions.
"You've certainly got a criminal history that doesn't give you any support at all," Magistrate Wilson said.
"You say that was in the past, but those orders were made only last year ... and here [in April] we have break enter and steal where you stole a total of $16,000 for motorbikes and all the gear that went with it."
Magistrate Wilson said a message needed to be sent to the community about this type of offending, which he said was happening all too often in Dubbo.
"It must be a message sent out to the community and a message sent out to you, that this just isn't tolerated," he said.
Magistrate Wilson revoked the community corrections orders Orcher was currently serving, and sentenced him to an aggregate indicative sentence of 18 months imprisonment, with a non-parole period of 12 months.
He will be eligible for release in December 2021.
