From the start of the year until December 1, the birdos have been recording all the bird species they've seen within a 70 kilometre radius of Dubbo.
"Some of the birdos take it quite seriously and will hunt down birds throughout the year and for other people it's just an opportunity to understand more what you're able to find and what's around. It's an excuse to get out and get into the bush, which is sorely needed in 2020," Dubbo Field Naturalist and Conservation Society president Tim Hosking said.
Throughout the year, more than 200 bird species were recorded. New species have also been added to the Dubbo bird list, including the red-necked stint and the red-capped plover. Both were seen at the pond at the Dubbo Sewage Treatment Plant.

"Considering the Dubbo bird list has about 270 species on it, that's a big proportion of the local bird life," Mr Hosking said.
Meanwhile, the birdos had been reassured to see species like the turquoise parrot and spotted quail-thrush were still around since the last bird list in 2010.
"These are specialist species we had worried we might have lost in the last 10 years of drought, but we've shown they are still out there locally, within 70 kilometres of Dubbo," Mr Hosking said.
Now the Big Year has finished, Mr Hosking will tally up the birds and see the final number recorded throughout the 11 months.
"We've had some massive drought and changes in habitats in 10 years so it was very worthwhile for that purpose," he said.
"More generally, to social with other birdos in the limited way that we could and just get out amongst the bush was great."
The highest tally for the year went to Rob Quinan who recorded 198 different species of birds.
The final count will be sent out by the Dubbo Field Nats when completed. The bird list will also be updated on the website.
