All donations made until Christmas Eve will help the Salvation Army provide support to families who are doing it tough.
Dubbo shoppers have already been leaving gifts under the Kmart tree. For those wanting to take part, it's requested that the gifts are not wrapped or second-hand.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Kmart encourages the community to consider practical gifts that will help people in need all year round.
In addition to leaving gifts, gold coins can also be dropped into the collection box at the registers or click the Wishing Tree logo on the self-serve checkout to make a donation.
"At Kmart Australia, we have a responsibility to care for and support the community in which we operate. Working with our long-standing partner, The Salvation Army, we have an opportunity to make a difference thanks to the generosity of Australians who contribute what they can," Kmart's John Gualtieri said.
"We are asking the community to give a small gift with a big heart, because a little thought can go a long way."
The theme for this year's appeal is Big Heart, Small Gift. Learn more about it by going to kmart.com.au/kmartwishingtree.
