The season launch for the new year was held on Sunday.

It not only features some of the shows that were unable to be held his year, but plenty of fresh, entertaining content.

While there may be some restrictions in place to ensure everyone remains COVID-safe, DRTCC manager Linda Christof said there would still be 20 shows in the season.

It includes the circus spectacular Brass Monkeys which will be held at the Wellington Civic Theatre. It's the first time a season show has been held in Wellington.

There are a few performances Ms Christof is particularly looking forward to seeing. Patch Theatre's Zooom will be an interactive performance, while Ms Christof said the comedic story of a volunteer club, as told in The Appleton Ladies' Potato Race created by Ensemble Theatre, would be very relatable.

"What we're thrilled about is the support from the community and their patience and understanding with all the changes that took place this year. We have a new ticketing system in place so that will automatically social distance groups in the theatre," Ms Christof said.

"We have a lot of things in place to ensure we provide a safe and welcoming theatre experience."

There's already a buzz around the new season.

"Distance makes the heart grow fonder and because we had a great turn out for the launch that's a really good indicator of things to come," DRTCC's manager said.

Tickets for the season are already available for subscribers. This year, anyone can become a subscriber by booking three shows, unlike the five of previous years.

Subscribers have until January 29 to purchase their tickets. Tickets will open to the general public in February.

Ms Christof said she wanted to thank season launch sponsors Kings Hall Jewellers for supporting the DRTCC.
