The federal Member for Parkes and Minister for Regional Health, Regional Communications and Local Government sees a silver lining in the COVID-19 pandemic for regional communities.
"I think when we look back at 2020 we will see it as a turning point for regional Australia," he said in the written address passed on to the Daily Liberal.

"COVID has given us a glimpse of what is possible with digital connectivity.
"It has broken down the perception you have to live in a major capital city to gain a quality education, pursue a successful career or access the best healthcare."
Mr Coulton said it also highlighted some of the other benefits of regional Australia, particularly for those locked down for weeks on end in major cities.
"Fresh air, open spaces, local produce, close- knit communities, affordable housing, the list goes on," he said.
"Add to that, the government's massive forward-facing recovery commitments to fast track connectivity, to stimulate regional economies, boost productivity and create more jobs."
Mr Coulton said the future of the regions was "looking pretty good". "And I reckon we'd better get ready for company," he said.
About 100 people from across the Orana region and further attended the State of the Region event at Dubbo RSL Memorial Club.
It was run by Regional Development Australia Orana which used the occasion to launch its second investment prospectus called Invest Orana.
Chairman Brad Cam said information in the 64-page colour book would allow investors to decide "which particular town or locality will meet their needs".
