Dubbo will see significant benefits from the 2020 NSW state government's budget, with over $50 million allocated to fund health projects alone in what is being described as a 'future-focused' budget by treasurer Dominic Perrottet.

Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders called the Dubbo electorate a 'big winner' in health infrastructure following the budget announcement.

"I am thrilled to announce that health is a big winner for the Dubbo electorate with $27.5 million for the Dubbo Hospital Redevelopment, $20.4 million (State and Federal funded) for the Western Cancer Centre in Dubbo and $7.5 million for the establishment of a drug and alcohol rehabilitant centre in Dubbo," Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders said.
Education will be another primary focus, with the Dubbo electorate boasting 20 of the first 30 schools to benefit from the digital schools upgrade program.
"I'm really excited and proud that our schools will be the first to benefit from this program," Mr Saunders said.
"The program will deliver new technology to classrooms, laptops to teachers, upgraded administration systems, training for 29 digital classroom officers and professional development for teachers so they can leverage the upgrade to benefit their students."
"The upgrade will give teachers access to resources and support that previously has not been easily accessible.
"They will also receive training so that they know how to use these upgrades in a way that will benefit students most."
"The Education Minister, Sarah Mitchell and I are dedicated to ensuring that all students, no matter where they live, have access to the best educational opportunities.
"Local schools will be receiving these upgrades now ready for Term 1 2021."
The full measure of funding benefiting Dubbo includes:
- $72 million in 2020-21 for continued delivery of overtaking lanes along the Newell Highway (State and Federal funded).
- $27.5 million in 2020-21 (as part of a $241.3 million project) for the Dubbo Hospital Redevelopment (Stages 1 to 4).
- $20.4 million in 2020-21 (as part of a $35 million project) for the Western Cancer Centre in Dubbo (State and Federal funded).
- $10.5 million in 2020-21 (as part of a $30 million project) for the commencement of the Dubbo Hospital Car Park.
- $7.5 million for the establishment of a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre in Dubbo to treat people that have become dependent upon alcohol or drugs.
- $20.5 million in 2020-21 to continue planning of the new Dubbo Bridge (State and Federal funded).
- $6.6 million in 2020-21 (as part of a $8.8 million project) for a world-class Platypus Visitor and Education Facility at Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
- $1.5 million in 2020-21 to deliver new and upgraded quality social and affordable housing for Aboriginal communities in Dubbo.
- $3.7 million in 2020-21 (as part of a $10.1 million project) for the Destination Dubbo project.
- A portion of a $14 million allocation will be used for an upgraded education and training facility in Dubbo to ensure police officers receive the very best training.
- $20 million for 30 schools set to benefit from the first wave of the digital school upgrades, 20 of which will be located in the Dubbo electorate.
