On Saturday House Manager of Ronald McDonald Charities Orange, Bronwyn Cooper and Orange house volunteer representative Narelle Gordon travelled to Dubbo to be presented with a cheque for $6,000 by the franchise of Dubbo and Wellington McDonald's Restaurants, Nicole Carmichael.

Ms Carmichael said the staff raised $4 short of $3,000 of those donations through sacrificing their salaries, which she then matched.

"This donation represents the generous salary sacrifice each week for several months by many staff members who work at the restaurants, and as the franchisee I have decided to match their contribution dollar for dollar - it is just fabulous," Ms Carmichael said.

"I can't thank my employees enough for their generosity, but the fact that the money is going directly to the house in Orange to support our families from Dubbo who need to stay there, gives us a great deal of satisfaction."

The Ronald McDonald House Orange supports families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment at the Orange Health Service by providing them with free accommodation.

Since it first opened in April of 2015 Ronald McDonald House Orange has housed 28 Dubbo families across 213 nights free of cost.

RMHC Orange Executive Officer Rebecca Walsh said everyone involved in RMHC Orange works hard to 'wrap around' these families to help them any way they can at a time when they are often in great distress.

"Here at RMHC in Orange we are so grateful to the people of Dubbo for their donations - it is a classic case of 'country people helping country people'," she said.

"As well as free accommodation provided for families for as long as is needed, all families are provided with emergency meals, complimentary breakfasts, grocery items for self-catering, complimentary toiletries, and gift bags of new books, toys and activities for the sick child or newborn in hospital.

"We also have many families who come to stay with us who are struggling financially, so we try to help in other ways by providing fuel vouchers for them to fill up their car to get home, and a grocery hamper."
