The trainer-jockey combination took out the day's first event in something of a boilover as Boom Boom Basil saluted at $21 in the Ezyquip Hire CG&E Maiden Handicap (1000m).
A regular rider for team Nestor, it was Cavallo's fourth win for the Dubbo trainer in the space of a month.
"He's terrific," Nestor said of the veteran jockey.
"He comes over and rides work Tuesday morning so he gets to know what we've got going and he does a terrific job.
"I go back to the old saying that experience takes you a long way. Especially with young horses like this.
"We combine well, he listens and we bounce ideas of each other and we're having a great run."

The win was a little extra pleasing for Nestor given he'd backed Boom Boom Basil himself when the three-year-old gelding had opened as a $27 chance.
While never overly-confident given Boom Boom Basil was first-up from a 22-week spell, Nestor knows he's got a promising galloper on his hands.
"He'd been showing enough at home and I think he'll be better off in a year," Nestor said.
"I was toying up whether to trial him or not but I thought he'd be better off with an educational run.
"But when they put up $27 I had to put a little something on it."
Sunday marked just the second start for Boom Boom Basil after he'd run ninth on debut at Dubbo in June.
Nestor had tipped him out for a spell following that and he showed his development in style in Sunday's win.
Boom Boom Basil fought on bravely in the straight to secure the win after sitting on the outside of Quan ($3.80 equal favourite, Ben Looker) and Superior Witness ($5, Aaron Bullock) for much of the trip.
The Foxwedge X Molly Dot Com gelding went on to win by three-quarter-of-a-length from Quan while Kaufusi ($3.80 equal favourite, Grant Buckley) was third.
With his potential clear to see, Nestor stated he was leaning towards only giving him a few more starts before sending him for another spell to continue maturing.
"I won't give him too much. Probably get him up to the seven furlong a mile and probably three or four runs and then tip him out," the in-form trainer said.
"He'll come back a very nice horse in the autumn."
The win was Nestor's only one for the day but continued a hot run of form, highlighted by last weekend's win with Fast Talking in the $125,000 Country Classic at Rosehill.
"It's a good team effort and I'm lucky I've got good staff, good owners, and a good team around me," he added.
Cavallo finished with a double on Sunday as he also won with the Brett Robb-trained Great Buy ($2.40 favourite) in the Dubbo RSL Club Resort Class 1 Handicap (1100m).
