Police allege he threatened the service station attendant demanding $150 cash, before fleeing the scene on foot towards Alam Street.
Following inquiries, police attended a home on Bultje Street and arrested Johnson who appeared before Dubbo Local Court charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
Police prosecution opposed bail due to the nature of the offence, and Johnson's extensive criminal history and prior records of violence.
"The record speaks for itself," police prosecution told the court.
He was refused bail and will appear before Dubbo Local Court on January 21.
