George Chapman is a name our newsroom, and this community, should know very well.
The Dubbo resident has been nominated as Senior Citizen of the Year for his work as a volunteer within the community.
Mr Chapman started his campaign to have defibrillators in the city after a trip to Singapore where he noticed defibrillators on every street corner.
While Dubbo doesn't yet have one on each corner, it's only through Mr Chapman's dedication that community groups have now raised enough money to buy and install 150 defibrillators in high-traffic areas.
Mr Chapman has been volunteering his time to help others since the 1970s, and we can't see him stopping anytime soon.
Another well-known face and name is Grace Brennan, who, after giving the address on Australia Day 2020, has now been nominated for the 2021 Australian of the Year accolade for her work with #BuyFromTheBush - the organisation she founded a little over 12 months ago.
In the first four months of the campaign the initiative had generated $5 million in revenue for bush-based businesses selling art, fashion, homewares and services.
Having just celebrated their first year of the movement, Grace also isn't stopping here, having announced a partnership with PayPal for an online #BuyFromTheBush marketplace.
These two local faces are among an amazing group of people, doing amazing things for not only their local communities, but communities right around the state, and in some cases across the country.
It's a high achievement to just be nominated, and to these two very deserving nominees we say congratulations.
