A sold out crowd of 500 people braved the drizzly weather to attend the Dubbo Turf Club for the seven-race program.
Dubbo Turf Club general manager Vincent Gordon said the shower before the races didn't worry the club at all ahead of the MAAS Group 2020 Derby Day.
Dubbo's Derby Day is one of the biggest social events on the calendar and attracts a crowd of up to 3500 racegoers, but with the global health pandemic this year the club were limited to 500 tickets.
"The fact that it was Derby Day done differently ... those that were lucky enough to get tickets had a really good day," Mr Gordon said.
"It was an exceptional day, very good racing, the crowd we had was very well behaved and all had a really good time.
"The club was very happy with the day."
Carly Acheson from Roma Queensland, was the female winner of this year's fashions on the field, while Shayne Carroll from Bourke took out the best dressed male.
Fashionistas and punters are set to return to the Dubbo Turf Club on Tuesday for the Daily Liberal Melbourne Cup Race Day.
"We're looking forward to Tuesday, then our next day coming up is our Sunday Session on November 15, that's our next party day and we're looking forward to that," Mr Gordon said.
