The Out & About With Kids 2020 Readers' Choice Awards received more than 80,000 votes cast by readers across 42 categories.
Dubbo mayor Ben Shields said the accolade would make Dubbo even more popular with Australian families.
"To know that Dubbo has topped the country as the people's choice for best regional destination for families is just phenomenal. Our region is up in lights with the likes of some impressive domestic and international destinations," he said.

Council has just launched a new marketing campaign, which includes television and digital marketing, encouraging people in neighbouring western towns to take some time to enjoy Dubbo like tourists.
"Typically regional visitation has great economic value to the market as a whole and these regular visitors may be spending on household and professional services during some of their visits," Cr Shields said.
The campaign focuses on the retail and hospitality sectors.
