The 78-year-old man was last seen walking through a rural property near Lightning Ridge, about 8.30am on Monday.
Officers from Central North Police District commenced a search of the area with assistance from the Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service.
About 10am Tuesday, the man was located safe and well in Lightning Ridge.
Police would like to thank the media and public for their assistance.

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a 78-year-old man missing near Lightening Ridge.
Brian Collins was last seen walking through a rural property near Lightning Ridge about 8.30am on Monday.
Officers from Central North Police District commenced a search of the area with assistance from the Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service, however the man was not located.
Family and police hold concerns for Mr Collins' welfare as he suffers from a medical condition.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of slim build, with grey hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a t-shirt and pants.
